In consideration of being permitted to participate under NWACC auspices in this program sponsored by NWACC, I am in full recognition of the risks and hazards inherent in living, studying, and traveling to a foreign country to which I may be exposed, during my participation in the program or activities undertaken, as a participant thereto.  Further, I do for myself, my heirs, and person representative(s) hereby defend, hold harmless, indemnify, release, and forever discharge all of its officers, agents and/or employees from and against any and all claims, demands, and actions and/or causes of action, on account of damage to personal property, personal injury, and/or death which may result from my participation and which result from causes beyond the control of and without fault and/or negligence of the NWACC, its officers, agents, and/or employees, during the period of my participation as aforesaid.

I am aware of the unstable world conditions which might require changes in the program schedule or might cause inconvenience or even harm to me as it might to other travelers who go abroad, including but not limited to the hazards of various modes of transportation, forces of nature, acts or omissions of governments, terrorism, war, insurrection, and/or illness.

In consideration of permission granted by NWACC to participate in the above program, I hereby assume the risk of inconvenience and/or harm and release the State of Arkansas, the NorthWest Arkansas Community College Board of Trustees and NWACC, as well as the agents, employees, and members of the aforementioned from all all actions, causes of actions, damages, claims or demands which I, my heirs, executors, administrators,  and/or assigns may have against any and all of the aforementioned for any and all personal injuries or death known and unknown which I have or may incur by participation in the applied program and for all damages to my property.

NWACC has the authority to establish rules of conduct necessary for the operation of the program during the entire period of the program, including free time.  The use of illegal drugs during the entire period of the program is strictly prohibited.  Should any official representative of NWACC decide that a participant must be separated from the program because of a violation of stated rules, for disruptive behavior, and/or for any conduct that might bring the program to disrepute or its participants into legal jeopardy, that decision will be final pending due process as described by the NWACC Student Handbook.  I understand that if I separate from the program that I will lose all academic credit, be responsible for program costs, and could face disciplinary action upon my return to the United States.

The applicant acknowledges and understands that in the event he/she become detached from the group, fails to meet departure bus, train, and/or plane, or becomes sick or injured, the undersigned will bear all financial responsibility to seek our contact, and reach the group at its next available destination; and, the applicant understand that he/she shall bear all costs attendant to contacting and reaching the program site.

The applicant agrees that the foregoing Release and Waiver of Liability and Assumption of Risk is intended to be as a broad and inclusive as is permitted by Arkansas law and that if any portion thereof is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect.

The applicant understands that NWACC requires Health & Extraction Insurance and this will be provided to the applicant, despite opinion.

As a participant, I understand that I must update any and all demographic info in Abroad Office as soon as it changes.  This includes, but is not limited to: phone number, emergency contact info, living address, et cetera. Students in this program must maintain the same standard of student code of conduct and academic work as would be required at NWACC. Students are responsible for arriving on time for class(es), required meetings, cultural excursions, and/or for the following the program schedule set forth by the program coordinator or accompanying instructor.  NWACC study abroad program students agree to show courtesy and respect to their fellow group members, their instructors, and host institution(s).  Students will not disrupt others who are sharing housing accommodations during the program.  Students understand that the program itinerary/schedule is subject to change at the final decision of a program coordinator, a faculty leader, NWACC, and/or its partner host institution(s) due to any unforeseen circumstances.  NWACC shall have no liability for any refund or other damages in such circumstances.   Due to insurance regulations, only those students/community members officially enrolled in the NWACC study abroad program may participate in organized site visits or cultural excursions.  Students who travel independently during free time while participating in an NWACC-sponsored program are required to notify the NWCC program coordinator(s) and/or instructor(s) of their whereabouts, and give the names of persons with whom they are traveling.  Students assume full responsibility for their personal safety and conduct when engaging in non-NWACC organized travel and/or activities, and will release NWACC and any agent acting in its behalf from any liability.

Your program coordinator and/or faculty leader will try to accommodate special requirements (such as vegetarian meals) however; the ability to meet such requirements or provide special services as at home may not be possible.  Student agrees to notify any special requests before departure and, where able, make an effort to adapt to the host culture and customs as much as possible.   NWACC's Study Abroad Program reserves the right to cancel, postpone, and/or change aspects of any or all programs abroad for reasons deemed necessary by said office (including price) should significant changes in the world situation occur.   NWACC study abroad programs involve a full schedule requiring students to maintain an active pace.  By accepting this agreement, students attest to the fact that they are in good physical/mental health and capable of adapting to the rigors of traveling in a foreign environment.  Students understand that they are responsible for any and all costs arising out of withdrawing from the program before its completion, including withdrawing caused by illness, family emergency, and/or disciplinary action.  Early withdrawal or dismissal may result in academic penalty.   Students also understand that lack of communication prior to departure or missing pre-departure orientation will cause student's application to be terminated/denied and will assume full cost.  All participants of Study Abroad are expected to pay the balance in full by March 31st prior to that summer's trip.  Any unpaid balance could result in having their application terminated/denied before departure and thus be collected upon by agents of NWACC.  Participants accept and will pay for any and all collection costs that this might generate.  As an NWACC Student, I will be viewed as a representative of the United States of America and my college regardless of my true nationalities.
I have read thoroughly and agree to abide by the above stated rules of participation and conduct.   The U.S. State department has the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (S.T.E.P.) which you need to enroll in before you travel.  This program notifies the federal government of your destination, length of stay, and your expected return.   Visit Travel Registration to enroll.  All NWACC Study Abroad program participants must conduct themselves in a manner that shows respect and consideration for their host country.  Any member of a study abroad program whose behavior is deemed  detrimental to the functioning of the program may be subject to dismissal.  Any excess charges as a result of this behavior is the sole responsibility of the participant.  In other states or countries, the sale of wines, liquor, drugs, and/or other alcoholic beverages may not be restricted.  Students are expected to act in accordance with the United States Federal Law in regard to the use of previously mentioned substances.  The use of, possession, and/or commerce of illegal drugs of any form is prohibited.  Program participants found with any illegal substances may face dismissal from the program and are subject to the laws of the host country, host institution(s), the United States Federal Laws, the State of Arkansas, and/or NorthWest Arkansas Community College.
