NWACC partners with Dante Alighieri School in Siena to offer students and community members four weeks of classroom study in the Italian language and culture.

Participants sign up for global studies or culinary arts with NWACC. All participants will sign up for Italian I or II with the University of Siena (all courses built into the program fees). Course offerings are subject to change.

May 31: Depart USA for those who choose to fly with the group (XNA to Rome FCO)

June 1: Arrive Rome / tour Plaza St. Peters Hotel / Tour Rome

June 2: Tour Rome / group lunch / dinner on-your-own

June 3: Depart Rome via train for Siena

June 4: Preview session at Dante Cooking School, waking tour of Siena, welcome reception at Ravizza, group pizza dinner

June 5: Explore Siena plus Bruco Contrada tour late afternoon

June 6: Classes begin - language in morning and cooking/photography in afternoon

June 7: TBA

June 9: Brolio wine tour after classes

June 10: TBA

June 11-12: Plan your own weekend excursion

June 13-17: Regular class schedule

June 14: Combined dinner with NWACC Foundation Group and NWACC in Italy Students

June 28: Farewell Siena pizza part on ground of Quattro Torra

June 30: Last day for all classes

July 1-2: Palio weekend

July 3: Depart Siena for Florence check in Hotel Pierre, tour Florence (private bus)

July 4: Tour Florence and group lunch

July 5: Depart Florence for those flying with the group (Florence to XNA)

Global Studies Program Fees:

Typically $5,500 (based on NWACC tuition rate), which includes:

  • Tuition and fees for language course in Italy
  • Round trip air transportation (approximately $1,600)
  • Language tutors
  • Accommodations onsite 
  • Day trip excursions related to the program's curriculum
  • Admission to sites and attractions that are part of the program's curriculum
  • Project supplies and materials
  • Health and extraction insurance

Culinary Program Fees:

Typically $5,700 (based on NWACC tuition rate), which includes:

  • Tuition and fees for language course in Italy
  • Tuition and fees for Italian culinary course
  • Meals/ingredients prepared during class
  • Round trip air transportation (approximately $1,600)
  • Language tutors
  • Accommodations onsite 
  • Day trip excursions related to the program's curriculum
  • Admission to sites and attractions that are part of the program's curriculum
  • Project supplies and materials
  • Health and extraction insurance

Global Studies Program Fee Does Not Include:

  • New passport application fees (if applicable)
  • Visa fee (if applicable)
  • Meals (participants eligible for University of Siena meal plan. Averages 4.50 euro)
  • Optional excursions
  • Immediate medical expenses

Culinary Program Fee Does Not Include:

As a participant, you may pay a reduced rate if you are receiving financial aid, grants, and/or scholarships in benefit your study abroad program. Please email StudyAbroad@nwacc.edu with evidence of awards prior to the program fee deadline to confirm exact payment amount.

Dante Alighieri School  has been proudly teaching Italian language and culture for 40 years. Since 1990, the school has also been providing high-quality study abroad programs in Italy. 

At Dante Alighieri School all language, culture, cooking courses are taught in a dynamic way: the atmosphere is personal, tailored to each student’s learning needs and goals. 

The Institute is located in the medieval city center of Siena, a Unesco World Heritage Site. Siena will welcome you with the words “Cor magis tibi Sena pandit”  (Siena welcomes you with a heart wider than its gate). The school strongly believes in this attitude and will make you feel at home soon!
