New Authentication Methods
Steps to Ensure Uninterrupted Access to Your Account
Step 1: Visit mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info
Update Your Security Information
- Use a current mobile number. This will be used for identity verification and password recovery.
- Add a personal email address. Do not use your '@nwacc.edu', another school, college, or work email address. This will help you reset your password if needed.
- Add an alternate phone number (if available). This provides an extra layer of access
in case you lose your primary device.
Add or Manage Sign-In Methods
Step 2: Select the "+ Add sign-in method" button to add new authentication options.
- You can also edit or remove existing methods from this page.

On the screen that reads, "Security info," access the left-hand navigation menu and
select the navigation item, 'Security info,' then, at the top of the main content
section, select the option, '+ Add sign-in method'. Then, select the option near the
bottom of the main content section, 'Email'. Follow prompts through to completion.

Or, you can also use your Microsoft Authenticator Mobile App to update your security
info.
Open the app and select your NWACC email account.

Select 'Update security info' near the bottom of the page.

Select the '+ Add method' and enter your information.

On the next page that reads at the top of the page, 'Security info:', select the first
option, '+ Add method.' Then, select the option near the bottom of the maincontent
section, 'Email'. Follow prompts through to completion.

On the screen that at the top reads, 'Keep your account secure,' access the option
near the end of the page, 'I want to set up a different method'.

Step 2: Select Email

A popup prompt entitled 'Choose a different method' will then be presented with a
dropdown box question, 'Which method would you like to use?' From the options presented
to the user, select the option, 'Email (Receive a code to reset your password).'

Step 3: Enter your PERSONAL email address. IMPORTANT: This email address cannot be your '@nwacc.edu', work, college, or school
email.

On the next screen that at the top reads, after 'Keep your account Secure,' 'Method
<number> of <number>: Email,' enter your personal email address (gmail.com address
shown) into the text input field that follows 'What email would you like to use?'
Then, after entering your personal email address, access the 'Next' button.

Step 4: Check your personal email account for a code and type it in.

On the next step, beneath, 'Email,' reads, 'We just sent a code to <your personal
email account>,' enter the code that was sent to the personal email address into the
next input text field that has the placehoder, ‘Enter Code.' Then, access the 'Next'
button. 'Success!' will then be displayed with details on your sign in methods.
Access the 'Done' button to complete this process.'
