Here at NWACC, we provide students with a guided pathway of listed courses, so you can quickly obtain an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Health Information Management (HIM).
HIM students will attend day-time technical classes and will have scheduled experience
within clinical facilities. Clinical rotations will be in the Summer semester (first year) and Spring semester
Each course of the 66 credit hour Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Management degree program has been developed through AHIMA’s recommendations on Curriculum Competencies and Knowledge Clusters document for specific degrees. Current health professional programs at NWACC are established and maintained by their professional accrediting bodies (Nursing, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, EMS etc.) It is the goal of the Health Information Program to maintain the accreditation from CAHIIM, AHIMA’s accrediting body, to keep in the tradition of the NWACC health professional programs.
The total combined CAHIIM concentrated courses (46 credit hours) and the general education
courses (20 credit hours) accumulate to a total of 66 semester credit hours.
*Before enrolling in these courses, students are required to have Anatomy & Physiology 1 completed . Anatomy and Physiology II, Disease Pathology, & Medical Terminology are prerequisites or co-requisites).
