Aviation Program |
AviationWelcome, Prospective Aviators! Congratulations on taking the first steps
toward a rewarding career in aviation! NorthWest Arkansas Community College
(NWACC) is dedicated to providing the highest quality aviation education
available. The aviation career field continues to expand, offering
opportunities both locally and across the country. Traditional sources of
trained personnel exiting the military services have dwindled significantly
while demand for educated qualified, and/or FAA certified employees is
increasing. NWACC is poised to meet the needs of the industry while
providing the means for our students to take advantage of a very
cost-effective education and training program.NWACC has partnered with Drake Aviation academy for professional pilot training and with the Arkansas Aviation Technologies Center (AATC) for maintenance support. Normal progress through the pilot program will allow completion of a Private Pilot's license, instrument training, and the award of a Commercial Pilot's License. The AATC provides students the opportunity for certification as an Airframe and Powerplant Technician. The third option addressing the area of Aviation Management features classes in aviation law, management, history, and safety, concluding with an industry internship program. The Associate of Science degree program is fully authorized with accreditation by the North Central Association to be transferable to a four-year institution for a Bachelor's degree. Courses have been arranged to provide articulation with Bachelors' programs offered by Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. For those persons interested in a two-year degree without the need to transfer for an advanced degree, an Associate of Applied Science degree is offered in conjunction with the AATC programs. This degree will allow students to take a lighter general education course load through the college and still get the Airframe and Powerplant certification. The future belongs to those who are proactive in thought and in deed. If aviation is your dream, pursue it. We at NWACC will do all we can to help prepare you for that exciting, productive career. If you have any questions, please contact me or the department secretary. For specific questions, please feel free to utilize our links to contact Drake Aviation Academy, Arkansas Aviation Technologies Center, or Henderson State University. Sincerely,
