The Arkansas lottery scholarship program is funded by proceeds from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery and administered by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE). ADHE administers more than 25 state scholarship and grant programs. The best-known programs cover traditional college students, workforce training, future teachers, students with disabilities, and students with special family or service circumstances.
Arkansas Academic Challenge
One of the most widely awarded scholarships administered by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education (ADHE) is the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship. The program provides financial assistance to Arkansas residents pursuing postsecondary education. Funded largely through the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, the scholarship is available to students at various stages of their educational journey, including recent high school graduates, current college students, first-time college enrollees, and individuals returning to college after an extended absence.
Workforce-Specific ADHE Scholarships
In addition to the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship, ADHE offers several scholarships specifically designed to support workforce development and prepare Arkansans for high-demand careers. Programs such as the Arkansas Future Grant (ArFuture) and the Arkansas Workforce Challenge Scholarship provide financial assistance to students pursuing credentials, certificates, and degrees in fields aligned with the state’s workforce needs. These programs are designed to reduce financial barriers to postsecondary education while encouraging students to enter occupations where Arkansas has a strong demand for skilled workers. By investing in education and training for high-demand fields, ADHE’s workforce-focused scholarships help strengthen the state’s talent pipeline and support long-term economic growth.
