NWACC Surgical Technology (ST) Program Mission

The mission of NWACC’s ST program is to prepare students to become vital members of surgical teams by providing classroom, lab, and clinical training in surgical procedures, sterile technique, and patient care in the operating room. Upon completion, the program will provide students with the skills and abilities needed to pursue fulfilling careers as surgical technologists in hospitals and surgical centers. The ST program supports the institutional mission of NWACC by providing affordable, quality education and is committed to the growth of educational programs that serve our students, the college community, our taxpayers, and industry.


About Surgical Technology

The Surgical Technology (ST) associate degree program is designed to prepare students to assist in surgical procedures by providing comprehensive training in sterile techniques, patient care, surgical instrumentation, and operating room protocols. Graduates are equipped with the skills necessary to support surgical teams in a variety of healthcare settings, ensuring safe and efficient surgical experiences. The program combines classroom instruction with hands-on clinical practice to develop competent, skilled surgical technologists ready to meet industry demands.

When pursuing the ST degree, you will take 63 total semester hours.
