Arkansas Attorney General’s Office to provide Narcan training Sept. 9

In partnership with the Office of Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin, NWACC will host an opioid awareness event Wednesday, Sept. 9. 

The event is part of Griffin’s One Pill Can Kill initiative, a college-focused program to raise awareness of the danger of fentanyl and give colleges and its students the tools to combat it.

Griffin will speak at 10 a.m. in the Becky Paneitz Student Center, Room 108. Then at noon, a lunch and training session will be held for NWACC students and employees, who will learn to identify an opioid overdose and administer Narcan. 

The event is free for students, who are asked to register in advance by filling out this form to ensure plenty of Chick-fil-A is provided by the attorney general’s office.

Through state opioid settlement funds, the attorney general’s office supplies Fentanyl Harm Prevention kits to campuses that rollout the initiative. Each kit contains Narcan, a pair of gloves for safety, a safe drug disposal bag and a pill identification card that identifies whether the drug is legitimate.

This is event is being help in partnership with NWACC’s Community Standards Department, which hosts opioid awareness events on campus throughout the school year. Learn more about NWACC’s health and well-being services.
