This month, NWACC LIFE (Learning, Improvement, Fun and Empowerment) successfully hosted its 2026 LIFE Summer Program, welcoming more than 80 high school students from across Northwest Arkansas for three days of learning, connection and personal growth centered around the theme “Finding Community.”

LIFE is designed to support area high school students as they explore their future goals, whether or not they are currently considering college after graduation. Through mentorship, encouragement and educational opportunities, LIFE helps students build confidence in their ability to achieve their dreams.

Recognizing that the transition from high school to college can be both exciting and challenging, the LIFE program connects students with college-age LIFE mentors who provide guidance, support and encouragement throughout the process. These mentorship relationships help students navigate academic, personal and professional opportunities as they prepare for their next steps.

During the 2026 LIFE Summer Program held June 2-4, students learned about the resources and opportunities available at NWACC, heard inspiring stories from current and former LIFE mentors and engaged with community leaders and guest speakers. Participants gained valuable life lessons, practical information and meaningful connections designed to help them succeed in college and beyond.

Graduating seniors who attend the LIFE Summer Program and plan to enroll at NWACC are eligible to apply for LIFE scholarships. The program concludes each year with an awards ceremony where participants receive certificates of completion, and outstanding students are recognized through scholarship awards and additional educational opportunities.

This year, the LIFE program awarded six scholarships totaling $6,000. Scholarships included the LIFE Community Scholarship, the LIFE Legacy Scholarship and the Judy Franklin Bee Empowerment Scholarship. Additional prizes awarded during the ceremony included a free laptop and a free NWACC course.

The success of the LIFE program is made possible through the generous support of community partners, donors and organizations dedicated to investing in the future of Northwest Arkansas students.

A huge thank you to Acambaro restaurant in Rogers for providing lunch to our students at no cost since the LIFE program began in 2012!  A big thank you as well to Cox Business, Synchrony Bank, 7Brew, Great Harvest Bread Company and the Walton Family Foundation for their generous support.
