Katherine Moore, NWACC’s director of Benefits & Retirement Administration, has been named a 2026 Influential Woman in the higher education category by Influential Women, which recognized her people-centered approach to human resources and employee benefits.
At NWACC, Moore leads employee benefits, retirement counseling, leave management and wellness programs. Her work helps employees navigate complex processes, from insurance claims and medical leave to retirement transitions, with clear information and personal support.
“Being recognized as a 2026 Influential Woman is an honor, especially because it celebrates work that means so much to me,” Moore said. “At NWACC, I have the opportunity to support the people who make our students’ success possible. I hope my work helps employees feel valued, informed and supported throughout their careers.”
Moore brings experience in higher education, manufacturing and benefits administration to her role. Before joining NWACC, she supported benefits administration, wellness initiatives and retirement services at the University of Arkansas. Prior to her higher ed career, she helped develop wellness programs in the food production industry across multiple states, including fitness initiatives and company-wide challenges to encourage healthier lifestyles and employee participation.
Throughout her career, Moore has taken an empathetic approach to benefits administration. She prioritizes listening to employees, helping them understand their options and providing guidance during significant life events.
“My approach to HR leadership starts with listening and understanding what employees need,” Moore said. “Benefits and policies can be complicated, and they often matter most during significant or difficult moments in someone’s life. I want employees to feel comfortable asking questions and confident that they have someone who will help them understand their options and navigate what comes next.”
Her work also requires balancing employee needs with the long-term sustainability of benefits programs. Evolving health care costs and leave regulations continue to challenge HR teams, making responsible claims management and benefits administration increasingly important.
Moore credits continuous learning and professional experience with helping her grow in her role. She regularly uses independent research, podcasts and audiobooks to expand her knowledge, drawing on both analytical thinking and a commitment to service in her approach to leadership.
For Moore, supporting NWACC employees is part of the college’s broader mission. By helping the people who serve students feel informed and supported, she contributes to the work that makes student success possible.
