NWACC Inclement Weather & Closure Guidelines
This winter season, be sure to stay updated on when inclement weather causes NWACC's classes to cancel or go remote and its locations to temporarily close.
Decisions to cancel classes or go remote and to close the college buildings will be communicated to employees and students no later than 5:00 a.m. for morning classes and no later than 2:30 p.m. for evening classes.
NWACC will ONLY send out a communication if there is a move to cancel or remote learning and the college's locations are closed due to weather. If there is no communication, then the college is open and classes are going as scheduled.
College location closings may be communicated by the following:
- Stated on the top of the NWACC homepage
- Stated on NWACC social media pages (Follow NWACC on Facebook and Instagram)
- Through an NWACC email communication
- On local media outlets – Check KHOG, KNWA, KFSM, Clear Channel and/or Arkansas Democrat Gazette
- Through the LiveSafe App
- A smartphone app that allows you to receive emergency alerts from NWACC.
- Through the BCAlert system
- A text messaging service used by NWACC and Benton County Emergency Management.
- BCAlert is only used for purposes of emergency notification, such as an immediate shut down due to impending weather or tornado warning issued.
Make sure to always use your best judgment during inclement weather and stay safe!
