The Arkansas House of Representatives passed a resolution on April 8, 2025 to recognize NWACC’s unique Bicycle Technician and Trail programs.

The resolution was created to "celebrate and commend NorthWest Arkansas Community College’s nationally leading and industry-transforming bicycle assembly and repair technician and trail technician programs.”

Representative Mindy McAlindon proposed the resolution, Senator Jim Dotson co-sponsored and all Northwest Arkansas legislators supported HCR 1008. Dr. Megan Bolinder, Executive Director of Trails Trade School and Construction Technology at NWACC was there to represent the college.

“This resolution does more than recognize a program,” Dr. Bolinder said. “It celebrates how NorthWest Arkansas Community College is nationally leading industry conversations, transforming workforce pathways and shaping how we think about outdoor recreation and economic development.

"This is what’s possible when local passion and philanthropy meet national partnerships and educational innovation.”

NWACC's bicycle assembly/repair technician and trail technician programs were designed with industry leaders, Bolinder said, and are taught by passionate subject matter experts. They were built to fill workforce gaps and elevate entire communities. As a result, NWACC is helping build the future of active transportation and outdoor recreation, through the development of bike technicians.
