English for Language Learners

NWACC's English for Language Learners (ELL) program offers instruction in English language skills for adult students whose first language is not English. Whether your goal is to sharpen your English-language skills to improve your career options, prepare to take your naturalization test, or to earn your GED credential, the ELL program will use a placement test to enroll you in the right courses.

The ELL program process:

  • There are six ELL levels. You will need to take a placement test to identify your ELL level.
  • Sign up for a flexible class schedule designed to improve your skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Citizenship: NWACC's ELL program also offers citizenship resources designed for those who are interested in learning more about the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizenship, naturalization procedures, civic participation, American government and history, and information on becoming U.S. citizens.

NOTE: Upon completion of the ELL program, one is eligible for a 3-4 credit hour tuition waiver for an NWACC class (does not include fees/books) that must be used within three years.
