Step 1) Make an Appointment

Log in to MyNWACC Connection and open Success Planner. Under the Services tab, find the Writing Center and locate Jacqueline Jones, our Online Tutor. Click on Schedule Online to make a 15-minute appointment during her available hours: Spring 2018 hours are Wednesday from 11:00-1:00 p.m. and Thursday from 12:00-1:00 p.m.


Step 2) E-mail your Draft

Submit a copy of the draft for review as a .doc, .docx, or .rtf format to write-in@nwacc.edu, Subject "Live Consultation." Please include in the e-mail when the assignment is due, what you would like to work on, and what are the assignment directions. Feel free to attach a copy of the assignment sheet in the e-mail. Make sure to submit your draft at least 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment.


Step 3) Get Connected

If you choose to schedule a Skype appointment, please make sure you meet the following requirements:


Technical Requirements

• Computer with reliable high-speed internet

• Computer with working web-cam, speakers, and a microphone so your advisors can see and speak with you, and share their screen with you.

Skype for Business installed (info below)

To schedule an online consultation through Skype for Business, simply follow the steps below.

1. Install Skype for Business (download links below)

2. Log into Skype for Business using your MyNWACC Connection username and password

3. Fully test your technology (see above)

4. At time of scheduled appointment, call your live consultation tutor, Jacqueline Jones. (jjones13@nwacc.edu).

5. Once your tutor accepts the Skype for Business call, your appointment will begin. 

Please note, you are responsible for Skyping your appointment tutor at your appointment type - your tutor will not Skype you.


Install Skype for Business

Note: For best performance, it is recommended that students install the 32-bit, or x86, version of the Skype for Business installer

Note: the Mac version of Skype for Business is called Lync


You will log into Skype for Business using your MyNWACC Connection Username and Password - no need to set up a new account.


Are Skype and Skype for Business different?


Yes. At this time, we only offer appointments through Skype for Business. You will not be able to contact your tutor with regular Skype. All NWACC students already have a Skype for Business account included in their Office 365 subscription (provided to all NWACC students) and can login to the software using their MyNWACC Connection username and password. The software can be downloaded free (see above).
