Social Sciences

Doug Krueger instructs his students.

The Department of Social Sciences includes the disciplines of Geography, History, Philosophy, and Political Science. These disciplines examine the world from the perspective of human actions and interactions. This perspective can be studied through examining either current issues or past events. Social Sciences provide students with insight into complexities of human behavior and culture. Students learn the methods of inquiry and critical thinking skills that have been used to answer broad-based questions in the domain. These courses also increase students' awareness of cultural difference and openness to new ideas. Students become more informed citizens and better able to apply knowledge of geography, history, philosophy, politics, and current events.
