Success Planner Faculty Training
Facilitated by: Dr. Bryan Aguiar

Success Planner, NWACC’s version of Starfish Retention Solutions, is retention software used to ensure student success and persistence through the collaborative effort of faculty, staff, and students via an online network. Within Success Planner, students can access a network of instructors and campus support staff to schedule appointments, access college services and resources, and complete personalized plans and to-do items for optimal success.  Faculty and staff can create a profile to share information about themselves as well as manage their appointments and meetings within Success Planner; most importantly, they can complete documentation of contact with students, both public and private, to track their academic progress.  Some of the items that can be documented include class attendance; meetings with advisors, instructors, and other support staff (Referrals); the creation of a success plan for a student to follow (Plans); participation in events and activities on campus (To-Do items); positive recognition (Kudos); and early alert items raised (Flags).  Finally, you can view public notes that have been entered by faculty, advisors, and other support services on campus. Schools using such software note jumps in retention, especially of at-risk populations, within the first few years of implementation because of this effort.  Ultimately, Success Planner promotes a campus-wide responsibility for student success and retention and provides the means of communication and information sharing across campus.
