Music Achievements

Dr. Steve Cooper chairs the Performing and Visual Arts areas of C&A.

  • Was awarded sabbatical leave, where he
    • Completed an 1100-mile hike along the historic European pilgrimage route known as the Via Francigena.  The walk took him from Rome, Italy northward through Italy, Switzerland, and France to Canterbury, England. 
    • A book recounting the experience is soon to be released, and music composed on the journey will be performed on upcoming NWACC Music recitals.
  • Leads several marketing initiatives that profile student and faculty successes and provide more than 11,000 points of contact
    • 48 Profiles of faculty, students, and projects published campus-wide for FACES of NWACC ARTS & LETTERS publications
    • 22 Editions of weekly FACES emailed to 500 community clients =11,000 points of contact
    • Maintains active Facebook page for Music and NWACC Arts and Letters

 

Miles Fish, Music Faculty

  • Created the proposal for NWACC's first campus abroad in Siena, Italy. Fish will serve as NWACC in ITALY's school director. The unique one month-long program, in partnership with Universit√† per Stranieri di Siena, will offer 3 college credit hours in Italian language taught by Universita faculty and 3 hours taught by NWACC faculty. The NWACC courses and instructors will change each summer as to maximize chances of participation by NWACC faculty members. Students who want to go several summers in a row can take graduated language courses and a different NWACC course each summer. More info at www.NWACCinITALY.com.
  • Published "Discovering the Rediscovery of Antonio Vivaldi" in The Choral Journal. Research for the piece began when he was on NWACC Sabbatical.   • Facilitated "The Amazing Mrs. Mozart," a collaborative Lecture Recital with the NWACC Chamber Choir and Friends
