Non-NWACC Scholarships


Throughout the year, NWACC's scholarship office receives information regarding outside scholarship opportunities. For your convenience, below is a compiled list of outside scholarships offered through a variety of foundations/agencies that may be able to offer you financial assistance.

Scholarships available for single parents.

Both Asher and Lyric Fergusson were fortunate to study abroad as students. In fact, they first met at their university because Asher (originally from Australia) received a scholarship to study in the USA for his undergraduate degree. These experiences have lead to many great opportunities and they haven't stopped traveling since. This $1800 scholarship is awarded to one student each Spring and Fall semesters and requires a 500-word essay to apply.

ScrubShopper.com wants to support the medical industry of tomorrow by providing the Greta James Memorial Scholarship to students enrolled in medical degree seeking programs each semester. To be eligible, students must: be enrolled in medical degree seeking programs (Ex: ADN or BSN), provide transcripts from accredited school, and fill out 2 essays highlighting financial need and leadership within their community.

This is a great program funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and focuses on providing educational opportunities to outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students.

This is a needs based grant program providing one-time financial assistance to women whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to complete a degree or certification that improves their marketable skills for employment to support themselves and/or their families.

The Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County provides financial support for single parent families living in Benton County.

Skills USA is a merit-based scholarship for active dues-paid SkillsUSA member. SkillsUSA is "partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce".

Tommy Smith started the Tommy Smith Scholarship because he remembers how hard it was to go to college, balance a part-time job, and have a social life during his college years. This scholarship is to show students that there are people who understand all that they have to do to get an education. The scholarship is worth $1000 and only requires a 500-word essay on a specific topic to apply.
