NWACC Instructor Excited to Bring Amazon Web Services Training to NWA
NWACC is now offering Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy curriculum that prepares you for AWS certification exams and careers in the fast-growing cloud-computing industry. As the only accredited AWS Academy in the state of Arkansas, the college offers AWS Academy Cloud Foundations, Cloud Architecting and Data Analytics courses, with plans for a full deployment of all AWS Academy courses by June 2022.
The curriculum is taught by AWS Academy-accredited instructors, like Drew Eason, to
ensure that the program reflects current services and up-to-date best practices, while
preparing you with the necessary industry skills and proficiency in AWS technology.
Meet Instructor Drew Eason
NWACC AWS Instructor Drew Eason has worked as a developer in Northwest Arkansas for over 20 years in areas such as retail, marketing and oil and gas exploration and production, and is currently working as a Senior Developer at Firebend. Drew is excited to be teaching AWS Academy courses at the college.
Drew took a moment to answer a few questions and further explain the benefits of offering
the AWS Academy curriculum to the Northwest Arkansas community. Read below to learn

What do you do at Firebend?
I am a Senior Developer at Firebend. My day-to-day duties include translating customer
requirements into technology, architecting cloud applications, and mentoring junior
developers.
How long have you worked as a developer?
I have worked as a developer for just over 20 years, and have spent my entire career
in Northwest Arkansas working for companies in retail, marketing, oil and gas exploration
and production, poultry and logistics.
Why did you decide to become an AWS Academy instructor?
I love the Amazon Web Services offering. They have written the book on cloud computing,
and all of the other cloud providers are playing catch-up. I find great joy in telling
others about the services they offer.
What are the benefits of becoming AWS certified?
When you become AWS certified, you are demonstrating to the IT community that you have a knowledge of AWS in a way that sets you apart from everyone else. The tests are thorough and comprehensive and ensure that you understand cloud computing in a way that leads you to produce secure, reliable, performant, cost effective, operationally excellent solutions for your customers.
What do students learn in Cloud Foundations?
Cloud Foundations gives you a solid foothold on the world of cloud computing. You
will understand how cloud computing in AWS is designed to create solutions that are world-class.
