College Credit. Retail Industry Foundations. Job Placement.
Junior Merchant Program

Through NWACC's Junior Merchant Program (JMP), junior and senior high school students and recent high school graduates are able to learn about different retail career paths in northwest Arkansas, whether working for Walmart, a Walmart supplier or a small business.

Students will learn about retail industry foundations, retail terminology, computer systems, and e-commerce, and be exposed to retail analytics and supply-chain management - all necessary for a career in the retail industry. Students will gain exposure to  industry professions and gain first-hand experience by interning at the Walmart corporate office and/or at a Walmart supplier office in Northwest Arkansas.

Students gain course credits that can be transferred to NWACC for an associate degree and/or transferred to a four-year institution for a bachelor’s degree - all at an affordable cost.

Why JMP?

  • Earn college credit while still in high school.
  • Gain confidence in choosing a career path before or early in your college journey.
  • Learn skills for entry-level retail jobs in sales, analytics, finance, replenishment and more.
  • Save money! Take out fewer student loans by transferring credits earned in high school toward an associate or bachelor’s degree.
