Communication and Arts
The Division of Communication and Arts at NWACC offers several areas of study spanning from art, design, cinematic studies, languages to theatre and journalism. To help you reach your goals as a student, we have options for the plan that is right for you, including associate of fine arts degrees, associate of applied science degrees, technical certificates, certificates of proficiency, and transfer degree plans with accelerated and online opportunities.
Our Communication and Arts courses are taught by highly qualified and engaged instructors with real world experience, including published writers and composers, award-winning musicians, and playwrights.
NWACC's new Integrated Design Lab is scheduled to open for the 2019 Fall semester and will offer courses in visual arts and construction. The facility will also house space for sculptures, ceramics, 3D printers, laser cutting equipment, and other tools. Students will be encouraged to test creative entrepreneurial ideas by utilizing the skills learned in various art and construction classes.

Art
Engage in courses in the traditional disciplines of art and art history, as well as graphics and photography. Pursuing Art can lead to a major in Art or Art History, meet general education requirements, or further personal growth.

English
Enhance your college level writing, composition, and linguistics with English courses in Imaginative Writing, College Composition, World Literature, American Literature, and more.

Communications and Cinematic Studies
Further develop your communication skills for academic and professional success by studying Communications, and see the world through another lense by participating in Cinematic Studies.

Graphic Design
Study Graphic Design and integrate your fine art skills with digital, technical skills and design thinking, and explore a range of design processes and methodologies. Create graphic art for various mediums such as print, web, video, and app design.
Journalism
Learn about mass media, reporting, feature writing, publication design, and editing in Journalism courses, and learn about multiple facets of mass communication from the internet to the printed page.

Music
Acquire fundamental musical skills by studying traditional and commercial music, including theory, performance, composition, and history.

International Languages
Study a foreign language and advance your learning and professional scholarship in both foreign languages and cultures. Enjoy courses in Chinese, French, German, or Spanish.

Theatre
Experience the academic training and hands-on experience you need to pursue a career in Theatre or fulfill a general education requirement. Play the protagonist of your own life by pursuing Theatre at NWACC!
