NWACC's kicked off its themed semester with a Jan. 26th event on campus that featured the presentation, "Radiation Sounds: Marshallese Music and Nuclear Silences" by Dr. Jessica A. Schwartz and performances by the First Marshallese Full Gospel Choir and the MCC Junior Choir.
Northwest Arkansas is home to the largest population of Marshallese in the continental United States. The Republic of the Marshall Islands houses a Consulate in Springdale led by Consul General Carmen Chong-Gum.
ALL events are FREE and OPEN to the public.
Marshall Islands 2013 is the 5th annual spring themed semester sponsored by the NWACC Honors Program. Other semesters focused on Ireland (2012), Native America (2011), the Caribbean (2010), and Southeast Asia (2009).
