Weatherization Training Center
The Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) has established one of the nation’s leading Weatherization Training Centers through a partnership with the Arkansas Department of Human Services – Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). NWACC is training today's workforce for a greener tomorrow. To accomplish this goal, the Weatherization Training Center has partnered with Saturn Resource Management; Saturn's curriculum has been developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy (US DOE) and meets the new DOE/NREL standards in four essential courses. These courses are nationally recognized by industry leaders and offered to students who want to excel in the weatherization and green jobs economy. The courses combine classroom instruction with high-tech, state-of-the-art laboratory training simulating a real-world environment that provides the latest in hands-on training techniques. The Northwest Arkansas Community College also has a mobile laboratory that allows for off-site training.
Coursework matches the Department of Energy's job task analysis* (JTAs) required for careers and certificates as Crew Leader, Energy Auditor, Quality Control Inspector, and Retro-fit Installer Technician. Courses are designed for Arkansas WAP agency employees and contractors, and are offered in recurring rotations to allow for convenience. Most classes are 32-38 contact hours and offered Monday through Friday during the day.
