The Naturals, in their first year, make the home opener debut Thursday, April 10, at the new ballpark.

Amanda (pictured) was one of about 150 people who auditioned for the honor of singing the anthem. She saw the opportunity on a newscast. Her picture was in The Morning News a day later.

“I wasn’t really that nervous,” she said during a break in Alan Clark’s RT class Wednesday morning. “They called me and asked if I could sing it this Friday.”

Amanda moved to northwest Arkansas from Poteau, Okla., with her husband when he started working in this area.

She’s a full time student who’s in her second year at NWACC.

“I love the PT program and my instructors,” she said. “Alan and Tom (Mattmann) really know respiratory therapy.”

She’s had limited singing instruction, she said.

“I’ve sang in church, at weddings and funerals,” she said, “but no real formal training.”
