Trustees hear update on NWACC Staff Council
BENTONVILLE (Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2007) – The NWACC Staff Council strengthens cooperation, appreciation, and information sharing among all members of the staff, Council President Becky Hudson told the NWACC Board of Trustees on Monday, Sept. 10, 2007.
“The Council provides an avenue for the creative expression of ideas with the community of the college,” she said. “The council provides leadership and representation for the staff of NWACC.”
Hudson’s presentation was one of five given to trustees that night.
She said the council was formed in 2002 to involve all areas of the college and be ever-evolving to meet the needs and growth of both staff and college.
Accomplishments between spring 2006 and spring 2007 that she cited were”
- Free fitness center membership for all college employees
- 12 credit hour tuition waivers for full-time college employees (increased from 6 credit hours)
- AQIP Survey to all college employees. Including brown bag lunches in the computer lab to help employees complete their survey

- Offered three Brown Bag Lunches

Looking to the future, she said the Staff Council “is proud to be an integral part of the college community and continues to look for positive and proactive ways to grow.”
She said the council serves the members by keeping the lines of communication open between staff, faculty, and administration.
She said that through self-evaluation and following closely with the College’s visions, values, and initiatives, the staff council will continue to represent staff and will provide a means of interaction with the community of the College.
Among its goals for spring 2007 through spring 2008 are to:
- Increase interdepartmental awareness by inviting department leaders to speak at brown bag lunches.
- Build relationships with faculty—invite them to be guest speakers at a brown bag lunch and plan at least one activity with them.
