ROGERS (Tuesday, March 25, 2008) – NorthWest Arkansas Community College joins with 30 other colleges and universities from the South and Midwest here Thursday at the Embassy Suites Hotel, vying for a berth in the May 13-15 Students In Free Enterprise USA National Exposition.
NWACC has a 35-student team, its largest ever. The team presents 9 a.m. at the Rogers SIFE USA Regional Competition. The competition includes 2- and 4-year college and university divisions and is one of 16 SIFE USA Regional Competitions being held across the U.S. in March and April.

NWACC SIFE team Sam M. Walton Fellow Becky Hudson says she is extremely proud of the team and its accomplishments. She said she is excited to watch the team present its 14 projects.
They presented those projects to their Business Advisory Board on Monday night and presented to college faculty-staff Tuesday morning.
During this academic year, the NWACC SIFE team organized 14 projects in the Northwest Arkansas community, including an incredibly successful “Project Unwritten.”
This project works with a special women’s unit at Decision Point Rehabilitation Center. These women are either pregnant or have young children and have committed to Decision Point to turn their lives around.
The NWACC SIFE team works with women at Decision Point to teach a variety of skills including computers, budgeting, financial literacy, professional success, business ethics and many more.
“They are trying to start over and make a life for their families,” said NWACC Team President Stephanie Archer. “The impact from Project Unwritten is great, not only in the fact that it helps get these women back out in the job market but also in the confidence it builds among NWACC SIFE team members when clients say thank you for caring about my future.”
NWACC’s SIFE team won the regional championship last year.
Should it again win, the team will advance to the 2008 SIFE USA National Exposition in Chicago May 13-15.
NWACC presents from 9-9:40 a.m. It is paired against three other community colleges – Ozarks Technical Community College at Springfield, Mo., Kansas City Kansas Community College, and Crowder College at Neosho, Mo.
Judges’ decisions will be announced at 1:30 p.m.
SIFE is an international non-profit organization active on more than 1,400 university campuses in 48 countries.
