Tompkins named Executive Director of NWACC IR, Grants

Ricky TompkinsBENTONVILLE (Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007) – Dr. Ricky Tompkins has been named Executive Director of Institutional Research and Grants at NorthWest Arkansas Community College, Vice President for Advancement Dr. Steven Gates announced this week.

Dr. Tompkins has been director of NWACC’s Institute of Corporate and Public Safety since June 2006, arriving from the Criminal Justice Institute of the University of Arkansas System.  As ICPS Director, the program has grown and expanded its reach by offering courses online and nationwide with participants from 38 states, 2 U.S. territories, and U.S. armed forces, and the United Kingdom.  ICPS was also invited and accepted an invitation to become a founding member of the Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium consisting of five higher education institutions from across the U.S. tasked with designing and implementing homeland security and emergency response training specifically for rural America.

As Executive Director of Institutional Research and Grants, Tompkins’ duties will include developing policies and procedures for grant endeavors, leading efforts to obtaining grant funding campus wide, directing the Office for Institutional Research in providing information, research, and data analysis, and supporting faculty and staff in their efforts to apply for and receive funding on behalf of NWACC.

Tompkins holds an Ed.D. in Higher Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a Master of Liberal Arts from Henderson State University at Arkadelphia, and a Bachelor of Arts from East Texas Baptist University at Marshall, Texas.
