NWACC RTC/Gentry Open House 6-8 p.m. Oct. 22
GENTRY – “Expanding opportunities for student learning” will be the name of the game at the NorthWest Arkansas Community College sponsored Western Benton County (WBC) Center Open House in Gentry, on Monday night, October 22, 2007.
The newly opened WBC is an extension of many of the programs currently available at NWACC’s Regional Technology Center in Fayetteville. This will be an opportunity for prospective students, their parents, and the general public, to hear from educators about the programs, and to see the students currently enrolled, in action!
The center in Gentry offers classes in Aviation Maintenance, Pre-Engineering, Criminal Justice, and Medical Professions. A new program in Cosmetology is also now offered in Siloam Springs These classes are made available to high school junior and senior students through an agreement between the home school districts, and the community college.
Monday night, students and educators will showcase their programs with displays and demonstrations. “This is another example of our college supporting an underserved population that would otherwise have significant transportation challenges,” stated Paul Rehberg, Dean, of the Regional Technology Center in Fayetteville. Dean Rehberg went on to point out, “Our President, Dr Paneitz, supports extending our educational and technical reach to as many of our area students as possible.”
The event will run from 6:00-8:00 PM, and will include comments from NWACC officials at 7:00PM. The evening will include tours and demonstrations in all of the classroom areas. The WBC Center, is located at 201 S. Giles in Gentry. For further information, please contact Emma Johnson (479-444-3058, Ext 112), or Dave Bowman (479-444-3058, Ext 105)
