Culinary Arts team wins gold medals

            BENTONVILLE (Monday, March 13, 2008) - NWACC RTC’s secondary Culinary Arts program competed in the ProStart  State Student Invitational late last month.

            ProStart is a National Restaurant Association sponsored curriculum.

            The competition, held at the Double Tree Hotel in Little Rock Feb 28-29, consisted of two days of intense competition focused on safety and sanitation, knife skills, mise en place, cooking, catering, culinary math, organization of paper work, knowledge bowl, case studies, appearance and attitude.

            NWACC RTC team members, under the instruction of Tuesday Eastlack, won gold medals in the management competition. Those students were Cole Reed, Jeremy Morris, Nicole Miller, Thomas Bedward, Taylor Sparrow and Kira Plummer.

            The state Department of Hospitality facilitated event.

            An awards luncheon was held at the Governor’s Mansion.
