NWACC Recruiter Sarah Beth Phillips complimented
NWACC Admission Recruiter Sarah Beth Phillips (pictured) received compliments this week from a high school teacher in Rogers.
“Suzanne Spivey called me today to tell me what a great job Sarah Beth did working with her students at Heritage High School yesterday,” College President Dr. Becky Paneitz shared with Vice President of Learner Services Dr. Diana Johnson. “She had wonderful things to say about her and said she was a true ambassador for NWACC and had a significant impact on many of her students.”
Suzanne Spivey is the wife of NWACC Board of Trustees member Joe Spivey.
Sarah Beth provides information to potential college students on how to get to college, including the application process, completing financial aid forms and on degree offerings, etc. She began working at NWACC on August 1.
Prior to joining NWACC, she was a communications coordinator for a company that provides pediatric and adult in-clinic and home health physical, occupational, and speech therapy in Central Arkansas, North Carolina, and other states.
Her attraction to education comes naturally.
“Both my parents are in education at the primary and secondary levels so they instilled its value in me from an early age,” she said. “It has always been one of my passions.”
She was looking for an avenue into higher education when she found her current position posted on the internet.
“My best friend lives in Eureka Springs so the possibility of being closer to her and my desire to be part of the higher education community initially attracted me to the position,” she said. “However, my interview panel and other warm, welcoming NWACC employees were what held my interest.”
She could immediately tell, she said, that their number one priority was helping each student reach his or her maximum potential as well as overcome any type of adversity that student may face in obtaining higher education.
“I knew this was the place I wanted to be so I was thankful to be granted a second interview and be offered the position,” Sarah Beth said. “I consider it one of my greatest blessings and highest honors to work here at NWACC with the people I do and to have the opportunity to speak to students of all ages, education professionals, and community members about what NWACC has to offer.”
Sarah Beth graduated from Jessieville (Ark.) High School and from Arkansas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations. She graduated in May 2006 from Henderson State University with a Master of Science in Sports Administration in August 2007
