Child Development Associates complete their certificates
FAYETTEVILLE (Friday, April 18, 2008) - Coordinator Early Childhood Education at the RTC Cathleen F. McAuliffe-Dickerson announced that several of her students, pictured above, finished their Certificate of Proficiency this semester.
Back row (L-R) are Rhonda Stokes, Julie Mathias, Melanie Walsh, Lynn Wood, Johnna Hilderbrand, Gina Anglin and Taresa Pliler. Front row are Danielle McCranie, C.J. McCleland, Amber Demauro and Charlene Bazile. Not pictured is Megan Donley.
Six additional students not pictured finished in December. They are Kashia Whittle, Jodi Boyd, Courtney Muccio, Sharon Shephard, Sherrie Johnson and Ashley Sullivan.
Kashia, Jodi, Sharon, and Sherrie have successfully passed the national assessment and have received their CDA credential. This semester's students will be assessed during the summer.
The Child Development Associate Credential is a nationally-recognized credential, McAuliffe-Dickerson said. NWACC is an approved "training" institution; once students have completed their coursework here, they are ready to be assessed by the national office.
“So far, with only four students having gotten that far, we have 100 percent success rate,” McAuliffe-Dickerson said. “I expect this semester’s folks will do as well as the first group.”
