Chapter of Northwest Arkansas Chef’s Association (NWACA)
meets Monday, Oct. 29, at NWACC RTC

FAYETTEVILLE (Tuesday, October 23, 2007) - The Northwest Arkansas Chef’s Association, a chapter of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) will hold its second meeting 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at the NWACC Regional Technology Center.

The meeting will be held in the Culinary Arts & Hospitality Institute at the NWACC RTC, 2350 Old Farmington Road

The Northwest Arkansas Chef’s Association (NWACA) will present an informative (and delicious) presentation given by Tyson Foods, Inc. Corporate Executive Chef, Uta Schepers on “Back to Basics - Take Traditional Cooking to the Next Level.”

The NWACA chapter represents local, professional culinarians in the food service industry.

The function begins with an educational seminar hosted NWACC and Tyson Foods, Inc., refreshments and a food sampling will be served.

Interested professional culinarians are encouraged to attend to learn more about and join the NWACA and the ACF.

Meetings are scheduled every other month. Check out the ACF website for the latest information: www.acfchefs.org – Chapters/Arkansas.  It’s easy to join NWACA through a secure on-line application.

The mission of this organization will be to offer opportunity for those involved in the food service industry to promote education, share industry competencies and support the growth and prosperity of the industry and its employees.

Chef Pamela Lewis of Tyson Foods, Inc. is President and Chef Marcus Easley, Executive Chef of Embassy Suites Hotel, serves as Vice-President.

It is the intention of the organizational group to invite all from the food service industry to join and share their experience and expectations for the industry.

Industry support has been shown from organizations such as TYSON Foods, Inc. of Springdale, Arkansas and John Q. Hammons investments represented by Embassy Suites Hotel in Rogers, Bordino's Restaurant in Fayetteville, PFG (Performance Food Group) and NWACC.

These leaders of the hospitality industry recognize the vital need to work together in providing quality products and services to today’s professional culinarians and consumers.

NorthWest Arkansas Community College also recognizes the tremendous need to educate and train the future employees of the foodservice industry with plans to initiate a chef’s certification through a collaborative effort with the Northwest Arkansas Chef’s Association chapter.

In addition, to further the educational effort plans are being developed to provide a Hospitality/Culinary Institute in northwest Arkansas as a part of the NWACC curriculum.
