Art Club Sponsoring March 3-7 art supply drive for Hospice
BENTONVILLE (Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008) - The NorthWest Arkansas Community College Art Club is sponsoring an Art Supply Drive for Circle of Life Hospice March 3-7 at the college.
Circle of Life Hospice has a budding art therapy program that includes an “Art by Request” program and is in need of art supplies for patients.
Specifically, Circle of Life Hospice needs a child-size easel, pads of 18x24-inch heavy weight drawing pads, sets of Mr. Sketch colored and scented markers for children, sets of Cray Pas, sets of high quality watercolors (12-color set of pans (about $17 at Hobby Lobby), watercolor paper pads, sets of colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, chalk pastels, and oil pastels.
“In general, any art supplies would be appreciated as well,” said NWACC Art History and Painting Instructor Stephanie Lewis. “Artists should consider bringing supplies they aren’t planning on using. All individuals, whether they are artists are not, are urged to bring at least one item for donation.”
The donation drop-off locations are by the Student Information Desk in the Student Center at NWACC, the Communication and Arts office in Room 1051 in Burns Hall, or Stephanie Lewis in room 1068 in Burns Hall.
Lewis said hospice is a special kind of care designed for someone with a life-limiting terminal illness.
“The focus of hospice care is to provide pain and symptom management, emotional and spiritual support so that each patient can maintain their dignity and spend their days in comfort,” she said.
