Robertson-Gann elected Vice-Chair of Arkansas Board for the Association of Higher Education and Disability
Amy H. Robertson-Gann is the newly-elected Vice-Chair of the Arkansas Board for the Association of Higher Education and Disability.
Arkansas Association on Higher Education and Disability (Ark-AHEAD) is an organization for professionals working with people with disabilities in postsecondary education settings throughout the state.
“The organization, an affiliate of our national organization AHEAD, plays a vital role in the provision of professional development and networking opportunities among our colleagues across Arkansas, regularly hosting state-level conferences and training sessions to advance high standards of professional practice,” Amy said.
“Compliance with state and federal mandates such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act requires that we continually hone our understanding of the fluctuating standards and best practices regarding implementation of services.”
Her term begins July 1 and represents a two-year commitment to the board, the first as vice-chair and the second as chair.
Amy coordinates Disability Services for the college, working directly with both students and faculty to implement academic accommodations for eligible students with disabilities in order to ensure their access to our campuses, curricula, services and activities.
“I currently serve 375 students with a wide range of disabling conditions – from blindness and deafness to learning disorders to psychological conditions such as bipolar disorder and attention-deficit disorder,” she said.
