NWACC named to Global Corporate College;
executive briefing session May 8 at SCWT

            BENTONVILLE (Monday, May 05, 2008) – The Corporate Learning Division at NorthWest Arkansas Community College has been named Arkansas’ lead-institution to the Global Corporate College, an entity whose mission is to close the talent gap in America and around the globe by providing high quality, standardized training for employees of companies who have a national or international footprint.

            “The Global Corporate College recognizes that one of the greatest challenges facing the global economy is the skills gap that exists between today’s workforce and the skills needed for tomorrow’s growth markets,” NWACC President Dr. Becky Paneitz said.

            The Global Corporate College (GCC) includes community colleges in nearly every state in the U.S. Additionally, educational partners have been identified in Europe and Asia, said NWACC Vice President for Workforce Development Dr. Derek Crews.

            NWACC will host an executive briefing session Thursday, May 8, on the capacity of the GCC to meet the regional, national and international training needs. Leaders of Arkansas companies have been invited.

            The executive briefing is 7:30-9 a.m. at the NWACC Shewmaker Center for Workforce Technologies.

            “Global Corporate College is proud of its early successes,” Crews said. “The GCC is well positioned to respond to training needs of national and international companies.”
