Dr. Charles “Chuck” Kater

NWACC VP for Workforce Development begins Jan. 5

Kater            BENTONVILLE (Friday, Dec. 12, 2008) – An experienced leader in training and organizational development becomes Vice President of Workforce Development at NorthWest Arkansas Community College on January 5, 2009, College President Dr. Becky Paneitz has announced.

            Dr. Charles “Chuck” Kater (pictured right), currently Dean of the College of Professional Studies at Bellevue University in Bellevue, Neb., brings to his new position 12 years of experience in training and organization development for the aerospace defense industry as well as 12 years experience in consumer products.

            Kater has six years experience in higher education administration.

            “We were looking for an innovative, entrepreneurial and collaborative individual for the position,” Paneitz said. “Chuck understands the relationship between higher education and workforce/economic development, curriculum development, program planning and assessment, supervision, fiscal management, and marketing.”

            Kater assumes the primary leadership role at NWACC in the areas of customized instructional programming in non-credit and special credit-based offerings for business and industry; continuing education, professional development, and building partnerships that provide leadership and support for the workforce and economic priorities of northwest Arkansas.

            Kater said he was attracted to the institution because of its quality and supporters.

            “I was impressed by the quality of the leadership team, the faculty and staff and the strong support within the community for the institution,” he said.

            At Bellevue, he taught leadership, management, organization development and organization design.

            Kater has an Associate’s Degree from Hutchinson Community College, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Pittsburg State University; and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
