NWACC SIFE team makes history at case competition
BENTONVILLE (Monday, Oct. 20, 2008) - Six members of the NWACC SIFE team accompanied by their advisors – Becky Hudson and George Tanner – attended a case competition at SAU in Magnolia this weekend. The case was a very difficult one and the team had only 36 hours to come up with a creative and innovative approach and marketing plan as well as a PowerPoint and oral presentation.
SIFE students are Meryll Soriano, Stephanie Archer, Rob Lovejoy, Wesley Fikes and Sheryl Slaughter.
“I am very excited to announce that the NWACC team placed third runner-up,” Becky Hudson, Alumni Relations Coordinator and SIFE Advisor said. “They competed directly against JBU and Kansas State. Other teams in the competition that did not make the final four included LSU, UA and other universities.”
Unlike SIFE regional competition where 2 year schools compete only against 2 year schools there were no such divisions in this competition—every team competed on the same level.
“We were told that this is the first time in the history of this particular competition that a 2 year team made it to the finals,” she said. “It was a very long weekend for the students—42 hours straight with no sleep—but they put together a terrific plan and presentation. George and I are both extremely proud of these students and I wanted to share our excitement with you all.”
