Aerospace Training Consortium visits NWACC
BENTONVILLE (Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008) - The Aerospace Training Consortium met Thursday, Aug. 28, at NorthWest Arkansas Community College. The group then toured Remos Aircraft and Wal-Mart Aviation, both at the Rogers Airport.
Members of the Arkansas Aerospace Aviation Consortium (pictured right) listen to comments from Robin Pelton (center in white), Regional Manager of Training and Quality Management for the Arkansas State Economic Development Commission.
Representatives from 10 colleges and universities joined with Ms. Pelton, and Dick Burchett (seated to Ms. Pelton’s right) from Arkansas Workforce Education to continue progress in coordinating training and resources that will be essential for further growth of aerospace in Arkansas.
The meeting of the Consortium was made possible and led by Steve Lease, with the Arkansas Association of Two Year Colleges.
Chris Ferguson (pictured right), manager of the Remos Aircraft Service and Completion Center, participated in a question and answer session with members of the Aerospace Aviation Consortium.
The briefing and tours were part of a series of meetings around Arkansas to update Consortium members on the many facets of the aerospace industry.
The Remos aircraft (seen in the background) is classified as a “Light Sport Aircraft.”
The aircraft are shipped to Rogers from Germany, where they are assembled and avionics are installed prior to delivery to customers.
Members of the Consortium (pictured right) are seen observing active maintenance being performed on a Wal-Mart Aviation Lear Jet.
Wal-Mart’s jet fleet, long an integral part of Wal Mart’s business operations, is one of the largest, and one of the best managed corporate flight departments in the world.
