Student motivated to help family-owned business

Eileen WrightEileen Wright (pictured right) is learning skills that will help her family-owned business going.

“My mom and dad are in their 70s and they need someone to help keep the business going,” said Wright, who was named the recipient of the September 2008 Golden Eagle Award. She is working toward an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Accounting.

Her family runs an Agco Corporation dealership, a tractor supply company in Monett, Mo.

Wright, of Watts, Okla., has attended NWACC since August 2007 as a full-time student. She took 12 hours this past summer and is enrolled in four business classes this fall.

“I really like NWACC,” she said. “People are really helpful.”

The 48-year-old maintains a 3.9 grade point average.

“I really want to learn all I can,” she said. “My parents say you don’t need a degree to keep the books at the business, but I want to learn how to do it right, using the most up to date, modern methods.

“Education is of great interest and importance to me.”
