College at the Crossing Classes Begin August 25
BELLA VISTA (Tuesday, Aug, 12, 2008) - C ollege at the Crossing (CATC), the NorthWest Arkansas Community College facility in Bella Vista, will offer a full slate of credit and non-credit classes for the fall semester beginning August 25.
In addition to non-credit personal enrichment classes, this fall College at the Crossing will offer continuing education classes for professional skills and talent development. CATC also will continue to offer general education credit classes. Students are encouraged to enroll early as seating in many classes is limited.
According to CATC Executive Director Jean Anderson, “We are pleased to offer such a wide-ranging selection of credit and non-credit classes this fall and, in light of the continuing high gas prices, we hope students living in Bella Vista and surrounding areas will find CATC a convenient location to take classes.”
Non-credit personal enrichment classes - The following classes have start dates that begin in August and September:
- Comparing World Religions, August 26 – September 16, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., instructor Rev. Thad Moore, $33;
- The History and Art of Walking I, August 26 – September 30, 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., instructor Rick Burns, $66;
- Let’s Talk, September 9 – October 14, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., instructor Kay Mathews, $52;
- Spanish for Travelers I, September 8-24, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., $52;
- Bidding in the 21st Century (Bridge), September 8-24, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.; instructor Byrl Malmanger, $66;
- Watercolor Landscapes Focusing on Skies, August 28 – September 18, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., instructor Sharon Simmons, $52;
- Watercolor Floral Painting Using Rice Paper, September 25 – October 16, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.; instructor Sharon Simmons, $52;
- Email and Internet, September 23 – October 9, 10:00 a.m. – noon, instructor Chuck Billman, $59;
- Digital Photography I, August 26 – September 11, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., instructor Chuck Billman, $59;
- Intro to Computers I, August 26 – September 11, 10:00 a.m. – noon, instructor Chuck Billman, $59;
- Intro to Computers I, September 23 – October 9, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.; instructor Chuck Billman, $59;
- Arkansas Wine Country (field trip), September 30, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., $69 (travel fee only).
Students can enroll in non-credit professional skills/talent development classes and receive Continuing Education Units (1 CEU = 10 hours of continuing education instruction). The following professional skills classes have start dates in August and September:
- Introduction to Accounting, 2.7 CEUs/27 hours, August 28 – October 23, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., $252;
- Marketing for Non-Profits, 0.6 CEUs/6 hours, September 25 – October 9, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., instructor Ed Zegler, $63;
- Excel 2007 Level I, 1.8 CEUs/18 hours, August 25 – September 15, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., instructor Peggy Glur, $178;
- Excel 2007 Level I, 1.8 CEUs/18 hours, September 16 – October 2, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., $178;
- PowerPoint 2007, 1.5 CEUs/15 hours, September 22 – October 6, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., instructor Peggy Glur, $150.

This fall NWACC will offer the following general education credit classes at CATC: Principles of Macroeconomics; English Composition I; English Composition II; History of the American People to 1877; Pre Algebra; Beginning Algebra; Intermediate Algebra; College Algebra; General Psychology; Western Civilization to 1650.
