DESCRIPTION:

The Dependent Care Account is a pre-tax benefit for reimbursing employees for day care expenses for children under age 14.  The reimbursement amount is based solely on the actual cost of the dependent care.  NOTE:  Any dollars sheltered through this plan may not be deducted on your taxes. 


 

 

 

ELIGIBILITY:

All full-time employees are eligible to elect the Dependent Child Care-Flexible Spending Account.

ENROLLMENT:

New Hires:  All full-time employees are eligible to apply for coverage upon hire.

Qualifying Family Status Changes:  Changes to coverage may be made within 30 days of a qualifying family status change.  Examples of a qualifying family status change are birth or adoption of a child, marriage and divorce.

Annual Open Enrollment:  Each fall there is an annual open enrollment period in which employee can add, cancel or change the amount directed to their account.

You must re-enroll in the plan each year


 

COST:

The employee determines the amount of his/her per pay period contribution based upon the actual cost of the child care with an annual maximum contribution of $5000. 

ANY MONEY REMAINING IN THE ACCOUNT AT YEAR END MUST BE FORFEITED.

BENEFITS:

  • Tax-free reimbursement for day care expenses for children under age 14.
  • Day care expenses can be a result of home based care, day care center expenses and after school care expenses. 

 

CLAIMS:

Provide FlexCo, Inc. with written documentation from the child care provider indicating the cost of the care.  FlexCo, Inc. will then automatically mail checks to employee on a per pay period basis and employee will not be required to submit vouchers manually.
