NWACC Inclement Weather & Closure Guidelines

A girl blowing snow into the air

This winter season, be sure to stay updated on when inclement weather causes  NWACC's classes to cancel or go remote and its locations to temporarily close.

The college will make every effort to communicate decisions on classes being canceled or moving to alternative methods of instruction and college buildings being closed no later than 5:00 a.m. for morning classes and no later than 2:30 p.m. for evening classes. Because the weather can change quickly, these decisions may be made outside of these times, so your flexibility is appreciated.

NWACC will ONLY send out a communication if the college's locations are closed due to weather. If there is no communication, then the college is open and classes are going as scheduled.

College location closings may be communicated by the following:

  • At the top of the NWACC homepage
  • In an NWACC email
  • On NWACC social media pages (Follow NWACC on Facebook and Instagram)
  • On local media outlets – Check KHOG, KNWA, KFSM, Clear Channel and/or Arkansas Democrat Gazette
  • Through the LiveSafe App
    • A smartphone app that allows you to receive emergency alerts from NWACC.
  • Through the BCAlert system
    • A text messaging service used by NWACC and Benton County Emergency Management.
    • BCAlert is only used for purposes of emergency notification, such as an immediate shut down due to impending weather or tornado warning issued.

Make sure to always use your best judgment during inclement weather and stay safe!
