Find the article, “The Power of Positive Identity” by Emma Violand-Sánchez and
Julia Hainer-Violand. It was published in the September 2006 issue of Educational Leadership .
1. Login to My NWACC Connection.
2. Choose the “Library” tab to go to all the library's resources.
3. Choose the “EbscoHost” database collection.
4. On the EbscoHost database list, choose the “Professional Development Collection,” of nearly
550 education journals, the most comprehensive collection of full-text education journals in the world.
5. Click on the database title or the “continue” button. When the search screen appears, type in
the title you seek, in quotation marks. You can also limit the search to Full Text by checking that
box, and you can enter Educational Leadership in the publication box.
6. Press the “Search” button and your article appears. Click on either the html or the pdf link to
access the article. When you have a choice, the .pdf link is usually superior, for it provides a
facsimile of the actual article as it appeared in the journal, with any illustrations, as well.
