Reference books

are the collection of general knowledge volumes that must always be available in the library. These books include general encyclopedias, subject dictionaries, handbooks, statistical manuals, yearbooks, and whole sets of volumes offering general information on a variety of subjects.

They are the best place to begin research, to gain an overview of any subject before focusing more closely on a particular aspect of that subject.

The library's reference area is on the interior row of five shelves in the center of the room. These books have call numbers beginning with the letters REF, and they may not be checked out. Anyone may make copies of information from these books.
