Segment 6 – Other Features of WebCT

As we have seen, WebCT is a very powerful program with many features that will assist you as you take your online class. We have talked in these tutorials about the Homepage, the three communication tools, the Assignment Tool, and the Quiz tool.

WebCT also has other features that your instructor may or may not include in the course. 

Generally, your teacher will include some type of content, perhaps in conjunction with your course textbook or other materials, and which may include PowerPoint presentations.  Some instructors may also include a link that goes to a publisher’s website where additional resources may be found.

Your teacher may also include a class calendar listing due dates for assignments, or perhaps another type of course outline. There are also tools that will allow you to make presentations to the class, or make a personal homepage within the course. 

All these additional tools will be explained by your teacher if they are included in the class, and you should not hesitate to explore your WebCT course to familiarize yourself with these options. You should also know that the Course Map button, located in the upper right-hand corner, can be used to quickly find any of the additional features that are included in your WebCT course.

Remember, your teacher is always happy to assist you with any questions you might have about using WebCT.  The NWACC Distance Learning department is also available to help you as needed.
