Satellite Recieving System Information
NWACC currently uses a dual receiver satellite receiving system. Our primary receiver, a 4DTV analog/digital capable receives signal from a A DH steerable satellite dish mounted on a large pole against the north side of the Central Educational Center (CEC). Our secondary receiver is a DSR-4200 and receives signal from a fixed Prodelin dish pointed at GE-3 Ku (PBS).
Both dishes are linked to the college's internal cable network and have been modulated to individual channels, along with the NWACC Bulletin Board (running off a computer as a PowerPoint presentation) and an auxiliary VCR. The channels are as follows:
- Channel 91 - 4DTV receiver (usually tuned to ARTS or CSPAN)
- Channel 93 - DSR-4200 receiver (usually tuned to either PBS children's programming or digital channel 503)
- Channel 100 - NWACC Bulletin Board with weekly list of messages, reminders, and events
- Channel 102 - Auxiliary channel connected to VCR
Any room with cable access can recieve a particular downlink, allowing NWACC to have a great deal of flexibility in scheduling rooms for satellite downlinks, an important feature considering the limited available space at the college and the irregular nature of satellite broadcast scheduling.
