My NWACC Connection Time Out

As a security feature, My NWACC Connection [MNC] is set to time-out after 1 hour.  If you log in through MNC and work in Blackboard for more than one hour,  you run the risk of losing your connection without knowing it.  This is especially important if you are writing a long discussion posting or taking a long test -- you may lose your work if MNC times out in the background.  The solutions are:

• Click back into My NWACC Connection before the hour is up.   My NWACC Connection is still open in another window in the browser, so return there and click on something to let MNC know you are still around.

• Log in through the http://nwacc.blackboard.com page if you plan an extended work session.  You should know, however, that Blackboard will also time out after 60 minutes of inactivity, but this would only happen after no clicks, mouse movement, or typing whatsoever by the user. 

• It is always a good practice, if you are writing a long discussion posting, to type it first in a word processor [like Word] and then cut and past into the new discussion message. This allows you to check for spelling errors, too.
