Common Browser Problems with Blackboard

Supported Browsers

Please see a list HERE of browsers that are supported by our version of Blackboard CE. If your browser is not listed as "Certified", you may experience problems with some features of Blackboard. But also see the note below about IE 8.

Internet Explorer 8 is NOT fully compatible with Blackboard

Despite being listed as "Certified" at the link above, some users may still experience problems when running Internet Explorer 8 with Blackboard. Please go here [look under the Compatibility View tab] to learn about using the built-in compatibility mode that will allow you to run Blackboard under a version 7 emulation.

Problems with Uploading and Attaching files

Several features in Blackboard require Java to be install correctly on your machine. This includes the file browser that allows you to upload and attach files. Please go here to learn how to install Java on your computer.

Problems with Downloading Files

The most common reason for problems downloading files is browser security settings blocking the download. Sometimes a yellow security bar will pop-up at the top of the screen, and you can click on it to allow the download,. To lower these settings to allow downloads, please go here for more information.
