NWACC's Career Camp 2009 is a new summer program that lets teens and tweens explore careers by giving them some hands-on practice and advice from seasoned professionals on what it takes to get to the top of their field.
This year, students aged 10 - 16 can choose to explore one of the following careers:
- Journalism/Media
- Veterinarian
- Police & Fire Protection
- The Arts (Visual & Performing)
- IT/Computer
Program Details
- Half day of career exploration in one of the 5 career tracks listed above, featuring:
- Teacher and guest speakers with real experience in the field
- Field trips or field activities
- Hands-on introduction to the work actually performed in the field
- Exploration of education and training required; knowledge, skills, and abilities required; and salary and lifestyle associated with the field.
- Half day Leadership Academy, to feature:
- Ropes Challenge Course and other experiential learning activities that build teamwork and personal confidence and self-awareness
- Volunteerism
- Leadership Training
- Entrepreneurship Studies
- Citizenship
