Course Content

NWACC, in conjunction with the local retail industry, has customized a program to provide focused preparation for retail analyst positions.  Many fortune 500 companies moving to Northwest Arkansas are hiring analysts who can combine advanced computer skills with an understanding of today's retail business.  Local industry experts, emphasizing practical business case studies, will teach you the skills you need to succeed. This program is designed to prepare individuals for a dynamic career as a retail analyst. In order to complete the criteria for certification, a score of Satisfactory is required in the following courses:

  • Practical Retailing Solutions-First Semester
  • Data Analysis with Exel (Includes Retail Link®-provided by Wal-Mart)
    First Semester
  • Communication Skills-
    First Semester
  • Retail Fundamentals-
    First or Second Semester
  • Data Analysis with Access
    Second Semester
  • Merchandising & Data Analysis-Second Semester

Courses are offered during the fall, spring, and summer sessions and are taught by expert instructors in the retail industry. This expertise enables each student to obtain practical information and skills that are strongly desired in the retail analyst field.

Admission Requirements

Minimum Requirements for Admission: All of the following requirements must be provided to Corporate Learning main offices prior to registration. Not meeting all the following criteria will prohibit registration for students.

  • Provide an official copy of a high school or college transcript or diploma, showing that you have passed College Algebra and English Comp I.
  • Provide a valid e-mail address.
  • Meet with James Thulin, Retail Programs Coordinator (936-5107) to discuss the program and make sure the MAP program meets your needs.
  • Pass the basic skills tests on Excel, PowerPoint, File Management, and Access. (To schedule, call 479-936-5107.)
  • Attend an orientation to be held at The Shewmaker Center for Workforce Technologies building.
  • Provide test scores for a college entrance exam equivalent that meet the minimal scores listed below (not required if you hold a college degree or have a transcript showing you have passed College Algebra and English Comp I). To schedule a college entrance exam, contact the NWACC Testing Center at 479-619-4317.
